As concerns grow regarding COVID-19 and the prevention of the spread of the virus becomes a community effort, the ArtWorks Westfield Board of Directors has instituted some significant changes to our upcoming schedule of community art and cultural activities. While our mission is to engage the community through art and cultural experiences, the safety of our community is equally important to us. Out of concern for lessening the spread of the virus we have decided to make the following changes to our upcoming programming.
Articulture Westfield, scheduled for May 1 & 2, 2020 at Amelia Park Arena, has been canceled. As the recently declared health emergency situation unfolds, we may add separate and modified art, music and literary shows later in the year at different locations in the city if it has been declared safe to do so. However, our signature Articulture Westfield event will not take place this year.
The Westfield Youth Art Show, will be an on line exhibit more to come.
Public Mural Committee Meetings, a new mural "Heroes are Everywhere" has been completed on the Rail Trail in Westfield, Ma. We look forward to creating more murals in the future.
The last two stops on the Westfield Community Poetry Experience tour scheduled for March 21 and April 18 have been postponed. These will be rescheduled when declared safe to do so according to CDC, state and local officials.
The Downtown Live! Friday Night Concert Series is on a tentative hold However, we will monitor the current emergency situation and make further decisions regarding this event based on CDC, state and local guidance. The same holds true for the Open Air Open Mic series planned for Wednesday evenings on the Park Square Green from mid-June through late-August.
