"Heroes Are Everywhere" Mural

Located in the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail Underpass between the intersection of Hedges Avenue with St. Dennis Street and Taylor Avenue with Ashley Street.


ArtWorks of Westfield, Inc. created it’s first community mural during the pandemic. With City Council approval, artists Shannon Chiba of Westfield, and Sarah Kinne of Easthampton, spearheaded the project with the ArtWorks Board. This master piece is named “Heroes are Everywhere” was created with community volunteers of all ages.

Vibrant colors tell the tale of Westfield’s history and a new history USA shall never forget, the 2020 Covid 19 Pandemic.


From love and peace to the F-15 Fighters, a symbol of protection and Freedom in our skies, and their flyovers May 2020 to honor Americans, the everyday frontline heroes, and for their service during the pandemic. Barnes Air National Guard is located in Westfield and Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, MA. Thank you to all that serve in our military, our Vets, and all of the front line workers that worked tirelessly during the pandemic, you all have honor and valor.

All precautions were taken to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being. This mural brought such outpouring of love, support, and hope from and for the community.

A second mural, approved by the Westfield Park and Recreation Board in August 2020, is scheduled is to start May 2021at the Westfield River Esplanade near the twin, green bridges.
