ArtWorks Westfield response to COVID-19
Community safety is of paramount importance to us as we navigate through this very challenging and unprecedented situation. We have made significant changes in our upcoming programming to assist in community-based efforts to minimize the spread of the virus and keep our community safe.
As concerns grow regarding COVID-19 and the prevention of the spread of the virus becomes a community effort, the ArtWorks Westfield Board of Directors has instituted some significant changes to our upcoming schedule of community art and cultural activities. While our mission is to engage the community through art and cultural experiences, the safety of our community is equally important to us. Out of concern for lessening the spread of the virus we have decided to make the following changes to our upcoming programming.
Articulture Westfield, scheduled for May 1 & 2, 2020 at Amelia Park Arena, has been canceled. As the recently declared health emergency situation unfolds, we may add separate and modified art, music and literary shows later in the year at different locations in the city if it has been declared safe to do so. However, our signature Articulture Westfield event will not take place this year.
The Westfield Youth Art Show, scheduled for May 2 at the Westfield Boys & Girls Club to coincide with the Articulture Westfield event, has been postponed indefinitely. We will explore opportunities to organize a youth art show in the second half of 2020 based on CDC, state and local official guidelines.
Public Mural Committee Meetings have been postponed indefinitely, although public input and ideas will be collected online. Share your mural ideas, suggestions and wildest dreams! These will be included in our planning and organizational activities and future public mural committee meetings.
The last two stops on the Westfield Community Poetry Experience tour scheduled for March 21 and April 18 have been postponed. These will be rescheduled when declared safe to do so according to CDC, state and local officials.
The Downtown Live! Friday Night Concert Series scheduled to begin on June 19th will take place as scheduled. However, we will monitor the current emergency situation and make further decisions regarding this event based on CDC, state and local guidance. The same holds true for the OPen Air OPen Mic series planned for Wednesday evenings on the Park Square Green from mid-June through late-August.
